For once in her life, things are going well for Becky Bloomwood. Famous around the world for her love of shopping without limits, Olympically ignoring the state of her impoverished bank account, she has finally gotten her dream job as a shopping consultant in a New York store ("I spend other people's money... and get paid on top of it"). She also lives in a fabulous apartment in Manhattan with her boyfriend Luke and has even opened a joint account with him. But, suddenly, everything speeds up.
