Synopsis of Medianoche en Damasco
Syria, August 2011. Peaceful protests in the country disappear to make way for bloodstained demonstrations. The attractive and charismatic general of the brigade, Mika al-Hussein, one of Syria’s best military intelligence agents and part of the sanctum of al-Asad, defected and fled to Turkey. As a good reluctant hero, he desperately tries to raise money and weapons to fight the regime, in a series of strategic moves that will put his life in danger. Pursued by the Syrian Intelligence Service, he will encounter not only former colleagues, but also a group of gangsters hired by a corrupt businessman looking for revenge. From Damascus to Istanbul, from Beirut to Tehran, Mika will find support from an unusual group of allies – an American journalist, two beautiful women and someone who claims to be a lawyer – in trying to stop the spiral of violence and brutality that emerges from any civil war.
